Elton Kirby, Founder

A native of New Madrid, Missouri, Elton Kirby graduated from West Memphis High School and Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science (dean's list). He served in Vietnam as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. In 1976, Kirby started Kirby & Family Funeral Directors in Mountain Home and expanded to Bull Shoals in 1979. He also co-founded American Life & Annuity Insurance Company in 1989. He continues to serve as a director for that company.

Elton was elected county coroner for two terms and continues to serve as a deputy coroner. He has been an officer and director of the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce. Elton is a long-time Rotarian with Paul Harris Fellow Recognition as well as a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was president of Hospice of the Ozarks Board of Directors for 10 years and still serves as a Hospice board member. Elton is a member and president of the Baxter Regional Medical Center Advisory Board. Elton is a member and past president of the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association and the North Central Arkansas Funeral Directors Association. Elton served on North Central Arkansas Regional Economic Development's Board for two years. Elton and Mary are members of the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home. Between Elton and Mary they have four children: Lisa, Jason, Josh and Jennifer. They also have four grandchildren: Sierra, Olivia, Mica, and Allie.
