Memorial Services for "Coach" Gene Richard Arnold of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 9:30 AM Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with Pastor Marilyn Schultz officiating. Mr. Arnold passed Sunday, May 22, 2011 in Mountain Home, at the age of 85. Gene was born May 14, 1926 in Grayville, IL, the son of James Guy and Vada Pritchett Arnold.
He married Doris Nelson on September 4, 1953 at McPherson, Kansas. He was a Teacher and Coach in Kansas for 38 years, before retiring in 1988. Gene Arnold was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas for four years, moving from Theodosia, MO. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2715, and the Disabled American Veteran Chapter in Wichita, KS.
Gene Arnold is survived by his wife, Doris, of Mountain Home, brother, James Guy Arnold, Jr., 3 sisters; Marge Huddlestun, of Mattoon, IL, Pat (Nick) Kotur, of DeMotte, IN, Shirley Freeman, of Palatine, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Interment will be in the Jewet Cemetery, Jewet, IL. Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church-ELCA, 48 Carnation Drive, Mtn. Home, AR 72653, or Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, 701 Burnett Drive, Mtn. Home, AR 72653. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
