Gene passed away February 24, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 67. He was born November 14, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of James and Cecilia Stachnik Fodor. He married Laurie Irwin on May 26, 1973, at Arlington Heights, Illinois and worked as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service. Gene was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. Gene lived in Lakeview since 2004, moving from Wauconda, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, boating and sports, especially bowling. He was a die-hard Chicago sports fan especially the Blackhawks and White Sox. He also enjoyed crosswords and puzzles.
Gene is survived by his wife, Laurie Fodor of Lakeview, AR; two sons, James (Angel) Fodor of Mundelein, IL and Jeremy (Britney) Fodor of Barnhart, MO; one daughter, Robin (Mark) Lupa of Vernon Hills, IL; mother, Cecilia Fodor of Tucson, AZ; brother, Gary Fodor of Tucson, AR; sister, Lorry (Häkän) Junholt of Angered, Sweden; five grandchildren, Thomas Darington, Katherine Fodor, Brandon Fodor, Anabelle Lupa and Evan Lupa; many good friends and special friends, Rolley Bateman of Woodstock, IL and Sally Weber of Wauconda, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
