Alan Kokes passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at his residence, at the age of 90. Alan was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on October 20, 1926 to John and Kristina Kokes. He joined the Marine Corps in 1945 at 18, just as WWII was winding down, and served the Provost Marshal. Then, he spent ten years in the reserves. He went to work in tabulating for Western Electric, and later, Seco Steel Corporation. In 1969, Alan and Elaine moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and he worked in sales, security, and finally property management before retiring in 1990. After retiring, he became a caregiver for his sister for the next several years, while Elaine was still working. After many moves over the years, they settled in Leesburg, Florida. In 2004, they had four hurricanes hit their area in just six weeks. That was when they decided to move to Mountain Home.
Alan is survived by his wife, Elaine Kokes of Mountain Home, AR; three nephews; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.
A Celebration of Life for Alan will be 11:00 am, Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, with Pastor Bill Hughes officiating. Entombment will be in Baxter Memorial Gardens, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
