Alice Kordisch of Lakeview, Arkansas passed away on March 12, 2014 at age 96. Born in Westminster, Maryland on February 7, 1918 to Harvey and Fanny Beard, she was one of six siblings and raised on a dairy farm. In her youth she loved playing basketball, going dancing, and singing in church. She pursued a singing career in Chicago where she met her future husband, a GI named Ray. Their courtship included countless nights dancing at the Aragon Ballroom, then Alice and Ray were married in 1944. They started a family soon after, and later moved to Denver with their children in 1962. Alice’s beautiful soprano singing voice resonated from the car, shower, kitchen and church and was the soundtrack to their lives. Retirement brought them to Arkansas, where they lived in their beloved Ozark home, surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty. Alice was happiest when with friends, always had a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a ready, infectious laugh. Alice devoted her life to her family, called everyone ‘Honey’ and was quick to anticipate and meet everyone’s needs. She is remembered for her selflessness, jolly demeanor and loving kindness which endured until the end of her days. Alice was a beloved mother and grandmother and is deeply mourned. She is now reunited with Ray in Heaven.
