Alta Fay Renner was born July 31, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Joseph Fisher and Alta (Davis) Fisher. Fay graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, and obtained her BA Degree from Baylor University. While at Baylor she met the love of her life, Vernon Renner, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2015. Fay was a Social Worker with the Missouri Division of Mental Health starting her career with the Springfield Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled upon its opening in the 1960’s. She was a longtime member of University Heights Baptist Church and always helped anyone in need. Fay was a great cook and her holiday meals included not only family and friends, but those less fortunate who simply needed a meal or company for the holidays. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother giving tirelessly of herself and loving unconditionally.
Fay was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, grandson Evan Charles and her siblings. She is survived by her children Stephen Renner, Joseph (Laura) Renner, Flo (Kevin) Graham and Mandy (Troy Schroeder) Charles; grandchildren Carl Renner, Levi (Lendy) Renner, Hayes (Keri) Charles, Katie (Dimitri) Kricfalusi , Hayley Charles, Hayden Graham, Healey Graham; and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service is planned for December 11, 2021 at 11:00 am, with visitation immediately preceding at 10:00 am at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.
