Angeline Imogene Kenyon Burnell passed from this life on Tuesday, January 10, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society where she had resided for the past 3 years. She was 92 years of age. Angeline was born July 2, 1929, in Normal, Illinois, the only child of Elmer and Imogene Kenyon.
She attended school in Towanda, Illinois, then University High School in Normal, Illinois. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters Degree in Education at Illinois State University. She taught English and Social Studies to Junior High students and Senior High students in Illinois. In Iowa and in Arkansas she taught college courses. In Mountain Home she headed the Adult Education Program affiliated with the North Arkansas Community College. Her education career spanned 33 years.
In 1972, she married William Burnell. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until they retired, then relocated to Mountain Home, Arkansas. Angeline was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, First United Methodist Church where she belonged to a study group and a Home Extension Club for many years.
She is survived by many cousins and friends.
Angeline was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband William Burnell.
A Memorial Service for Angeline will be 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home, Arkansas with Reverend Daniel Thueson officiating.
Donations may be made to the Illinois State University Alumni fund or the United Methodist Church in her name.
