Anne Elizabeth Roosa

Anne Elizabeth Roosa (Annie) of Flippin, Arkansas, passed away January 25, 2021, at the age of 83. She was born July 14, 1937, in Horse Cave, Kentucky, the daughter of Harry and Cecil Donoho Morgan.

Annie was the youngest of five children. Her family moved a lot during her childhood, which Annie thought was great, stating, "as soon as people would discover what a brat I could be, we would move!" Ever the curious and adventurous sort, Annie nearly died twice as a child - once in a near drowning and once catching herself on fire lighting matches under her shirt. Annie always said her parents were fair and loving, and their home was full of laughter. She remembered her childhood fondly.

Always extremely social, Annie was involved in many groups and activities throughout high school. She and her brother Junior would attend dances together, because no one else could dance as well as they could.

Annie married Loyde Morand in 1955, and they had 4 children together, all of whom were born by the time Annie was 23. Naturally, her hair turned completely white before the age of 30. She was a loving mother. After 20 years of marriage, Annie and Loyde divorced.

Annie married Dr. Clifford Roosa on September 11, 1976. They travelled all over the world and made lifelong friends wherever they went. They had two stints on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, where Cliff worked at the local hospital. After their final return to the states, they made their home in Flippin, AR. Annie joined Cliff traveling to small communities throughout the U.S. as he served as locum tenens physician for his remaining years of medical practice.

When Cliff retired from medicine, he and Annie started a blueberry farm with both commercial and pick-your-own operations. Ignoring any and all child labor laws, Annie would have one or several grandchildren shipped in every summer to assist with the blueberry harvest. The grandchildren were rewarded with trips to the Flippin pool, rides in the Volkswagen Thing, sleepovers on the screened in porch and priceless memories that would last a lifetime. Annie loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always excited to hear all about what was going on in their lives.

Annie and Cliff enjoyed golf and would often travel with their golfing buddies. They made many wonderful memories and thoroughly enjoyed their life together. They were married for 32 years, when Cliff passed away in August of 2008. They adored each other, and Annie never stopped missing him.

Annie was a real estate agent and continued working up until her dying day. She loved all of her coworkers at Arkansas Ozarks Realty and was especially grateful to her work partner, Jason Prociuk. Jason's ability to "team up" with Annie allowed her to continue doing what she loved and undoubtedly added years to her life.

Annie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, any and all sorts of games, a well-timed curse word, a dirty joke (or two), and yelling at Democrats on TV. She loved to learn and was entirely self-educated. She never tired of meeting new people and learning about history and different cultures. Annie was always extremely thrifty and made an art out of re-gifting McDonald's Happy Meal toys and random objects from around her house she no longer had a use for. She was a skilled giver of advice - solicited or otherwise. She did not suffer fools, laziness, or feeling sorry for oneself. Her motto was always, "pick up your bat and glove, and get back in the game of life."

Annie loved the Lord and anticipated the day she'd meet Him. She attended the First Baptist Church in Flippin but enjoyed sleeping through sermons in other churches as well. Annie loved people and never met a stranger. She rarely missed the opportunity to attend a social event and was often the life of the party. Her smile and her laugh were magnetic, and she gave the very best hugs. God broke the mold when he made Annie. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Annie is survived by sons, Daniel (Terry) Morand of Littleton, CO and Mick Morand of Flippin, AR; daughters, Marcy (Ralph) Shimer of Dacono, CO and Lisa Masterson of Flippin, AR; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Cecil; brothers, Russell, Howard, and Harry Jr.; and sister Juanita Morris-Corwin.

A gathering of family and friends for Annie will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Summit, AR. Burial will be in the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO. Due to current restrictions, masks are required.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
