Arlen Ralph Voldness, 89, of Mountain Home, AR passed away at his home Monday, April 25, 2022 at his home. He was born September 1st, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Albin and Edna (Olson) Voldness.
Arlen took great pride in his Norwegian heritage. He married the love of his life, Helen Ferguson on October 27,1956. He pursued a fascinating career life as they raised their family together. Prior to his retirement to Arkansas; he founded Loaves and Fishes, renamed later as the Metroplex Food Bank and Soup Kitchen in Fort Worth, TX. He was a lay Franciscan for over 50 years and loved the Catholic faith he found in 1955. A life-long learner and lover of knowledge, he was always enthusiastic about the current book he was reading. He was a man of faith and he finished the race set before him. He will be remembered for his sweet nature; generous spirit, and love for life.
Arlen is survived by his wife of 65 years; son Jim (Anja) of Extertal, Germany; daughter Barbara (Randy) Litherland, Tell City, IN; son Paul (Carla) of Fort Worth, TX; daughter Katrina King of Mtn. Home; son Mark of Mtn. Home; son Frank (Tara) of Cherokee Village, AR ; his brother, Merlyn “Red” Voldness of Mtn. Home; Opa’s legacy will go on in his 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Idris, and sisters Val Norman and Nancy Powers, and daughter Mary Elizabeth.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm with Vigil / Rosary at 5:00 pm Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass for Arlen will be 10:00 am Monday, May 2, 2022 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with celebrants, Father John Lewandowski and Father Jayaraju Sure. Interment will be beside his beloved firstborn Mary Elizabeth in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio.
