Armin G. Klug

Armin "Dutch" G. Klug, age 96, of Mountain Home Arkansas passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015. Armin was born August 24, 1918 in Peotone, IL to the Reverend August and Wilhelmina Klug. He lived in West Chicago, Batavia and St. Charles, IL before moving to Mountain Home in 2012. His parents, three brothers, two sisters and a son (Thomas) preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Marjorie (nee Vegter). He is also survived by a sons, Kenneth (Cindy) of Mountain Home and James of Canon City,Co. In addition he is survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
After earning his Bachelor's Degree in accounting at the Walton College of Business, Armin was employed as Treasurer of Culligan-Dupage Soft Water, Inc. , Wheaton ,IL for 32 years until his retirement in 1984. After retirement he volunteered for 25 years as treasurer for Hi-Hat, the Delnor Hospital Auxilliary second hand shop in Geneva, IL. Armin attended Redeemer Lutheran Church while living in Mountain Home and was a long time active member of St. Michaels United Church of Christ in West Chicago, IL where his father had once served as pastor. Armin was a devoted family man and enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, camping and travel. He was also a life long Chicago Cubs fan and would listen to many of their games on radio.
Armin was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Europe during World War II as a Master Sergeant in the Army Finance Department. He was awarded a Bronze Medal Citation for meritorious service and was discharged from the Army in 1945 after four years of service.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michaels United Church of Christ, West Chicago, IL on Saturday, May 23, 2015, beginning at 11:00 AM. Rev. Sue Ebersold will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:30AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Michaels United Church of Christ, Hospice of the Ozarks, Mountain Home or the Salvation Army.
