Barbara "Gigi" Carpenter

A Gathering of Friends for Barbara “Gigi” Carpenter, 90, of Bull Shoals, AR will be 2PM Sunday, September 22, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, AR. Gigi died peacefully at home in her bed on September 8, 2013 after recent cardiac complications.
Barbara was born July 2, 1923, at Omaha, NE to Homer L. and Frances I. Schurr VanAmburgh. She always said her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Barbara had a quick wit and loved to laugh. In recent years she lived with her daughter and she enjoyed watching the birds, playing cards and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Caryl Thompson (Don) of Bull Shoals, AR; son, Todd Rasmussen (Mary) of Morrilton, AR; sisters, Ruth Pool of CA and Karen Prohaska of OR; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, Jeff Rasmussen, Katie (Jeff) Jackson and children, Tori and Brooklyn, Jamie (Joe) Bratton and children Talan and Tessa all of Morrilton, AR, Elizabeth (Bobby) Mitchiner and daughter, Lily of San Francisco, CA, David (Debra) Thompson and daughter, Maggie of Mountain Home, AR, Lissa (Damon) Brown and son, Riley of Fayetteville, AR, and Josh (Karla) Thompson and children Tucker and Parker of Lakeview, AR and canine companion, Scooter. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Axel Rasmussen and second husband, Adolph Carpenter.
Memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or the First Presbyterian Church of Morrilton, AR.
