A Good Life
Funeral Service for Berniece T. Davis of Valparaiso, Indiana, formerly of Mountain Home, Arkansas will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 5th 2015, at College & North Church of Christ, with Ken Burton officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 4, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home.
Berniece passed from this life on November 27th 2015, in Valparaiso, Indiana, at the age of 87. She was born on May 30th 1928, in Tippah County Mississippi, the daughter of Oliver and Sarrah (Hodum) Tapp. She married Doyle Dean Davis on July 8th 1944 at Randolph County Arkansas. Berniece enjoyed being with and doing for others. She participated in many volunteer activities at church, including being part of the making of bears and bunnies for the hospital. There were always plenty of stuffing and bow making at her home. She always had something cooked for someone in need or unexpected guests. Berniece was the second youngest of ten children and greatly missed her mother when she passed. Her outlet for this love was directed to someone older to whom she could help and or comfort. Berniece enjoyed china painting, quilting and loved her gardening and her flowers... especially her roses. She was a wonderful mom who cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and expressed her love with special gifts that she had handcrafted. In a reflective moment a couple years earlier, Berniece commented “Doyle and I have had a good life”.
Berniece is survived by her daughter Sheilla Davis of Chesterton, Indiana, son Delton Davis of Saint Joseph Missouri, one sister; Quilla Hightower of Stanton,Tennessee, four grandchildren; Shelley Ginn (Clay) of Saint Charles MO, Andrew Davis (Cheryl) of Keizer OR, Joshua Davis (Julie) of Chesapeake VA, Jennifer Stotler (Stephen) of O’Fallon MO and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Sarrah Tapp.
Burial will be in the Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, AR, with Andrew Davis, Joshua Davis, Stephen Stotler, and Clay Ginn as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Shults‑Lewis Childrens Home, PO Box 471, Valparaiso IN 46384 or Children’s Homes, 5515 Old Walcott Rd, Paragould, AR 72450 in lieu of flowers.
