Bernyce B. Brimmer, 96, a longtime resident of Mountain Home, passed away peacefully November 7, 2012, at her niece?s home in Littleton, Colorado. She was born to the late Hattie and Fred Buck October 17, 1916, in Clarion, Iowa. Bernyce graduated from Clarion High School in 1924 and in 1938 moved to Chicago, Illinois where she married Howard Brimmer in 1946. Bernyce worked for Western Electric in Chicago from 1938, until she retired in 1976. She loved her job at Western Electric and said she hated to retire, but, ?It was time?. She and Howard moved to Mountain Home in 1976, where they built one of the first homes in Southern Meadows. In 2010, she moved to Littleton, Colorado to stay with her niece, Susan Buck. Bernyce was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Mountain Home, the Shrine Ladies, Eastern Star, Pioneers and the Lady Elks. She loved to travel and she and Howard travel extensively outside and inside the U.S. until his death in 1992. She continued to travel as often as she could with friends. Bernyce was preceded in death by her husband Howard Brimmer, her brother Russell J. Buck and sister-in-law Margaret Buck. Bernyce is survived by nephew Russell F. Buck and nieces Susan M. Buck and Kathryn A. Foley, great niece and great nephews Lisa Jeffries, David Storhaug, Michael Storhaug and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, 701 Burnett Dr, Mountain Home, AR 72653. The funeral will be held at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel at 600 Hospital Drive in Mountain Home on Monday, November 12, at 3:00 PM with internment following at Baxter Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be the hour preceding the funeral. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
