A Funeral Service for Bettie Jean Hoover of Midway, Arkansas, will be 1:00 pm, Friday, July 6, 2012, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time. Bettie passed away July 4, 2012, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 75. She was born September 22, 1936, in Alamo, Tennessee, the daughter of Jessie and Elberta Cathey Hughes. She married Richard Hoover on August 13, 1966, at Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Bettie lived in Midway, Arkansas since 1976 moving from Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She owned and operated several businesses in the Twin Lakes area, including Bettie's Poodle Shop, Twin Lakes Home Care Service, A1 Auto Repair and Hoover's Discount Grocery. Bettie is survived by her husband, Richard Hoover; five sons, Ray (Carolyn) Smith, of Memphis, TN, Glenn Smith, of Lakeland, FL, Jay (Pam) Smith, of Mountain Home, AR, Harvey B. (Teresa) Hughes, of Mountain Home, AR and Denny (Roxanne) Hoover, of Midway, AR; one daughter, Deborah Jean (David) Hankins, of Kiefer, OK; eight grandchildren, Heath and Braden Hughes, Chad and Cody Hankins, Hannah and Weston Hoover, Jackson Gregory and Robert Smith; one great-granddaughter, Maggie Scott Smith and 3 sisters, Jettie Cline, of Kansas City, MO, Doris Winslow, of St. Joseph, MO and Eddie May Mace, of St. Joseph, MO. She was preceded in death by her father, Jessie E. Hughes; step-father, Dewey Bryant; mother, Elberta (Hughes) Bryant; two brothers, Jessie E. Hughes, Jr. and T.B. Hughes; one sister, Margaret Lewis and one son, Rex Smith. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Denny Hoover, Weston Hoover, Harvey Hughes, Glenn Smith, Darren Johnson, Kevin Lind and Curtis Stewart as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Hatch, Mike Porting and Robby Smith. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks, 701 Burnett Dr., Mountain Home, AR 72653. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
