A Visitation for Betty Jo Brown, of Midway, Arkansas, will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Joines Funeral Home in Villa Grove, IL. A visitation will be from noon until service time. Burial will be in Villa Grove, Illinois.
Betty passed away December 25, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 76. She was born May 28, 1940, in Owen, Wisconsin, the daughter of Adrian and Wanda Schultz Sheets. She married Arley Brown on April 2, 1960, at Piggott, Arkansas. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University. She worked for the University of Illinois as a home extension advisor and taught home economics at Rock Ridge School District. She later did her graduate work at the University of Illinois and Eastern Illinois University for her certification in special education. She taught special education in Jamaica, ABL and Heritage School Districts in Central Illinois. Betty lived in Midway since 1993, moving from Illinois. She will be greatly missed by her family and Mountain Home friends.
Betty is survived by her husband, Arley Brown of Midway, AR; daughter, Linda Michelle (Steven) Goelz of Peachtree City, GA; brother, Roger (Barbara) Sheets of Delaware; two sisters, Marcia Allen of Villa Grove, IL and Bobbi (Bob) Harrison of Villa Grove, IL; two grandchildren, Ryan Goelz of Peachtree City, GA and Dr. Kevin (Megan) Goelz of Birmingham, AL; two great-grandchildren, Colton Tyler Goelz and Parker Stafford Goelz both of Birmingham, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Tim Sheets.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or a charity of one's choice.
