Betty Maude Conley, 89, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, in Norfork, Arkansas. Betty was born on May 11, 1934, in Lead, South Dakota, to Ernest and Blanche Smith Dry. She attended Hendrix College. She married Barton Conley on June 27, 1953 in Cotter, Arkansas. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her creative and artistic skills extended across many disciplines. She loved to travel. Betty was a co-founder of the Shepherd's Center of Raytown, Missouri and a past president of Norfork United Methodist Women and packed many backpacks for their aid to school children. She was a past president of PTA in Missouri and active at the State level. She instilled a love of music in each of her children and attended 28 consecutive years of school concerts. Betty volunteered in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Hospice, Parents Anonymous, Child Abuse Prevention Agency; and Job's Daughters, to mention but a few. She was a Rainbow Girl and member of the order of Eastern Star. She actively supported the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas and was a member of Norfork United Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by son, Mark (Lucia) Conley of Norfork, AR; three daughters, Deborah (Bill) Ferneyhough of Colorado Springs, CO, Janis (Tom) Note of Highland Lakes, NJ, and Catherine (Andy) Kramer of Lutz, FL; nine grandchildren, James, Bobby, Scott, Drew, Amanda, Renee, Kaitlyn, Jack, and Michael; four great-grandchildren, Ayden, Karsyn, Lincoln, and Mia; and niece, Rhonda Barboza of Clayton, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 59 years, Barton Tate Conley; brother, Robert "Bob" Dry; sister, Jerry Lee Barboza; three grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsay, and Benjamin; and nephew, Troy.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 7:00 pm at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jeremy Hopper and Reverend Kevin Gilbee officiating. Burial will be in Norfork Cemetery, in Norfork, Arkansas.
Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to Hospice of the Ozarks.
