A Celebration of Life for Betty Joan Morrow of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, will be 2PM Thursday July 30, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals, AR with Richard Grissum and Danny Hutcherson officiating.
Betty passed away July 23, 2015, in Bull Shoals, AR at the age of 80. Betty claimed to have lived in Bull Shoals longer than any other resident. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Leslie and Helen Edson Grissum. Her parents moved to Bull Shoals, AR and owned and operated Grissum Repair and Hoke Equipment. Betty was a graduate of Flippin High School and was the first person to be married in the Bull Shoals Methodist Church when she married Allen Morrow in 1952. She worked as Postmistress for twenty seven years in Yellville, Cotter, Midway and Bull Shoals, AR. Many days Betty could be found sitting at the Bull Shoals Historical Museum of which she was a founding member. Betty was active in the community as sextant for the Newton Flat Cemetery, long time treasurer for the Bull Shoals Historical Society, and past president of the Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Never idle, Betty was a great cook and accomplished at almost any craft, ceramics, quilting, knitting, wood carving, needle-point, etc...
Betty is survived by daughters, Janet Morrow of Memphis, TN and Alice (Reed) Bennett of Lakewood, CO ; sons, Roger Morrow and Jeff (Jamie) Morrow of Flippin, AR; 5 Grandchildren: Cristin, Jimmy, Leslie, Coty and Justin; great-grandchildren, Ty Lane, Gracie, Cooper, Brentley, Olivia, and Krislynn as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Jimmy Morrow.
Burial will be in Newton Flat Cemetery.
