Funeral services for Betty Ann Smith, 83, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 AM, Friday, September 30, 2011, at Kirby and Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Mike Shy officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Betty died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Mountain Home. She was born April 3, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Joe and Grace West Rowe. She worked for Baxter Laboratories, 23 years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3183 for 40 years. She enjoyed bowling at Driftwood Lanes and reading.
Betty is survived by 3 sons, Walter (Allison) Henschel, Larry Henschel and John (Marie) Henschel; one daughter, Kathy Sanders; 8 grandchildren, Heather, Robert II, Derek, Vanessa, Melinda and Greg Henschel, Michael and Alanna Sanders and 4 great-grandchildren, Skylar and Braydon Henschel, Wyatt Hutton and Kendrick Sanders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harry Henschel and Oliver C. "Smokey" Smith; one son, Robert Henschel; one granddaughter, Sarah Henschel and one sister, Kathleen Seitz.
Burial will be in the Protem Cemetery with Walter, Larry and John Henschel, Michael Sanders, Robert II and Greg Henschel as pallbearers. Derek Henschel will be an honorary pallbearer.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
