Funeral Services for Buck Cook of Mountain Home, AR, will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2010, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. David Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until service time, Sunday, January 17 at the funeral home. Buck Cook died Thursday, January 14, 2010, in Mountain Home at the age of 86. Mr. Cook was born Wednesday, May 9, 1923, in Kelso, AR, son of Walter Monroe and Mattie Varden Cook. He married Imogene Raiford on January 23, 1945, in Arkansas City, AR. Mr. Cook was born and raised in Kelso, AR and lived there until 2007, when he and his wife Imogene moved to Mountain Home to be near their daughter, Judy Strother, and family. He was a long time member of the Kelso Baptist Church, where he was a deacon for more than 50 years. He also served on numerous church committees and boards as well as singing in the church choir and serving as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a loving man who counted his family as his greatest wealth, and he will be remembered, loved, and missed by many. Buck Cook is survived by his wife, Imogene Cook, 3 daughters; Judy (Lane) Strother, of Mountain Home, Joy (Ross) Gammon of Bozeman, MT, Kay (Jack) Dunn of Rogers, AR, Brother, Robert (Maureen) Cook of Kelso, AR, and 5 Grandchildren; Jodi Strother, Megan Strother, Mica Strother, Stephen McClellan and Courtney Selby. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Marie McDuffie, Geraldine Mauney, and Louise Cook, 2 brothers, Walter Cook and K.D. Cook, and 2 grand-daughters, Amanda Jones and Brooke Selby. Burial will be Monday, January 18 at 1:00 PM in the Kelso Cemetery, Kelso, AR. Memorials may be made to Ouachita Baptist University. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
