Buddy L. "Bud" Spaulding was born June 26, 1939 and passed away June 30, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Renata (Joe) Williams; two brothers, James and Joseph Spaulding; and eight grandchildren. At the age of 18 he joined the Marines and served four years. Then, he joined the Army and served for 17 years, first as a Small Arms Repairman, then a Helicopter Mechanic, and finally as a TI. He spent two tours in Vietnam; 1967-1968 and 1969-1970. The tours were bad, especially the TET. After the military, he worked 19 years for the United States Post Office. Bud was a strong and giving man, though he suffered most his life from the war - Agent Orange, PTSD, and finally dementia. He is at peace now. Some may remember him as the Junkie. He liked to help people and never forgot the kindness people showed him. He and Beverly were six days short of 54 years together - "He was my Hero."
Bud's last effort was a petition to get a VA Hospital in Mountain Home, due to the number of veterans in the area. He has petitions in a large number of area businesses. Southern Breeze Real Estate will continue the effort. Beverly will carry on Bud's legacy by visiting the ones she knows about, or to offer assistance, you can call Beverly at 870-425-2228.
As per Bud's request, funeral services will be private.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
