Buford Latta

Mr. Latta was born April 12, 1926, at Jacksonville, AR, to Robert and Kate Andrews Latta. He married Faye Dean Matheny on March 6, 1948, and was a loving and devoted husband of 58 years. He was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the V.A. Hospital in North Little Rock and retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Latta was an Army Veteran who served in the Philippines during World War II. He lived in Jacksonville before moving to Mountain Home in 1998. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors: Buford Latta is survived by his wife, Faye Dean Latta, of Mountain Home; 2 daughters, Karen Troeger and husband, Robert, of Mountain Home; Susan Toburen and husband, James, of McAlester, OK; 1 sister, Louise Bostic of Jacksonville; 6 grandchildren: Kimberly Harris and husband, James, of Titusville, FL; Christopher Troeger and fiancée, Mia Plunkett, of Little Rock; Michael Troeger of Little Rock; Jennifer Schafer and husband, Andrew, of Ankeny, IA; James (Jimmy) Toburen of McAlester, OK; Charles Toburen of Norman, OK; and 5 great-grandsons. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Wilma Smith and Mildred Gray. Visitation: Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2007, from 6-8 p.m. at Moore?s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2007, at Moore?s Jacksonville Funeral Home. Burial: Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Jacksonville. His friends and family knew him to be a caring, honest, and loving person, and he will be greatly missed. He was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors and watching the birds.
