Burdette “June” Waddell known to her family and friends as June died March 2, 2017 in Derby, KS at the age of 96.
June was born on June 13, 1920, in Garfield, KS to John and Ella Shaw Gilmore. She married Kenneth Waddell on September 25, 1941, in Wichita, KS. They raised two sons in Wichita where June was employed in the aircraft industry. She retired from Boeing in 1981 and they moved to Gamaliel, AR.
In retirement, she was active sewing, painting and lunch dates and shopping with the “girls”. She belonged to the group called the GGs where they supported the Gamaliel Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of the 101 Presbyterian Church and First Christian Church of Mountain Home.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Deanna) Waddell of Peculiar, MO and Hugh (Deanne) Waddell of Derby, KS; grandchildren, Becky (Mike) Smith of Littleton, CO, Karissa (Trevor) Lowe of Guthrie, OK, Kenny (Anna) Waddell and Cole (Chassity) Waddell of Wichita, KS; great-granchildren: Amelia and Connor; Cole Garrett; Lincoln and Chloe.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 22, 2017 at the Maynard Bend Cemetery in Gamaliel at 10:00 am.
Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
