Burton “Burt” Searles, 79, of Mountain Home, AR passed away on Thursday, February 02, 2017 in Mountain Home, AR. He was born in Clifton Springs, NY to the late Henry and Myrna Searles. Burt was an avid woodworker and jack of all trades. Burt was loved by many and known by more and it was said he never met a stranger. Although he had many hobbies, his most accomplished task was caring for 79 foster children over a 25 year period with his wife.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Nellie of Mountain Home, AR; his daughter, Wendy Gonzalez of Lewisville, TX; his son, Jim Searles of Dallas, TX; his son, the late Davis A. Searles; his current minor children, Angel, Michael, and LaDerrick; eight grandchildren, Sherri, David, Kristi, Christopher, Brian, Erin, James, and Ryan; three great-grandchildren, Harper, Christopher, and DeClan; and three sisters, Phoebe Carre of Huddleston, VA, Jane Cooper of Huddleston, VA, and Alice Cubberley of Lenior City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Twin Lakes Baptist Church at 3:00pm located at 2645 Hwy 62 SW in Mountain Home, AR. Dr. Sam Bailey will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church and designated for The Burt Searles Memorial Fund.
