Graveside Services for Dr. Carolyn Ford Dickinson, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City, Missouri. She died Tuesday, September 6, 2011, at Mountain Home, AR, at the age of 76. Carolyn was born May 19, 1935, in Fayetteville, AR, the daughter of Hiram and Opal Wright Ford. She married Leon T. Dickinson in May of 1970. She attended the University of Missouri, where she graduated with a PhD in English. Dr. Dickinson started her career teaching at Stephens College in Missouri, whereas through a fellowship with Stephens College, allowed her to spend one year in Japan teaching English and Humanities. She, along with her husband who was also a college professor, spent one year in France teaching English. Upon returning to the United States, Carolyn began teaching at Columbia College in Missouri where she continued teaching for 30 years. Carolyn moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in November 2007. Carolyn is survived by her niece, Carson A. Ford, nephews, Travis W. Ford and Canton W. Ford, aunt Mary Jane Ford, and special friend, Kenton Treat. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, William H. Ford. Memorials may be made to the Daniel Boone Regional Library, P.O. Box 1276, Columbia, MO, 65205.
