Carter Mann

A Funeral Mass for Carter Duncan "Jack" Mann of Jordan, Arkansas, will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Stan Swiderski as Celebrant, with Denny Charbonneau, Jim Korblik, Mike Slice, Jack Pier, Ralph Reese, Bill Doerr as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00, December 28, 2011, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Jack passed away December 21, 2011, at the age of 88. He was born March 30, 1923, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Carter and Sally Darr Mann, Sr. He married Viola Tenholder on December 2, 1944, at St. Louis, Missouri and worked as a Merchandiser for Lohr Distribution Company. Jack was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He lived in Jordan, Arkansas since 1985 moving from St. Ann, Missouri and was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. He was affectionately known at the "honorary mayor" of Jordan.

He enjoyed family time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a volunteer firefighter with the Rodney/Jordan Fire Department. He was active in the Jordan Marina Norfork Lake Cleanup and enjoyed playing poker with his poker group once a month.

Carter is survived by his son, Patrick (Sharon) Mann of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Donna (Bill) Clark of Maryland Heights, MO; 2 sisters, Jean Sabatino of Englewood, FL and Esther DeRostaing of San Pedro, CA; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
