A Memorial Service for Cecil E. Smyth of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 22, 2013 at the East Side Baptist Church, with Reverend Richard Crawford officiating. The family will gather at the church from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Cecil passed away March 19, 2013, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 78. He was born October 30, 1934, in Rivana, Missouri, the son of Cecil and Lucile Brown Smyth. He graduated from Abilene Christian University and served as a minister in the Church of Christ for several years. He later worked as a federal employee for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in New Mexico and for the Office for Civil Rights in Dallas, Texas. In April of 2002, he moved to Mountain Home and married Helen Sue Adams. He was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. He enjoyed bible teaching, sharing his faith, working out at the gym, gathering with family and friends, playing dominoes and other table games. Cecil is survived by his wife, Helen Sue Adams-Smyth of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Nicole (Joe) Rinke and their daughter, Avery Jo of Norman, OK; son, Andrew Combs of Nevada, TX; stepdaughter, Lori (Mike) Minshall of Purcellville, VA; stepson, Samuel Adams of Sterling, VA; several step-grandchildren and brother and sisters, Twyla, Rene, Darlene, Jerry, Cheryl and Beverly. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Christine and brother, Kenneth Smyth. Memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, Warrenton, Missouri.
