Charles Burton, Jr. was born on September 26, 1933 in Toulon, Illinois to Charles and Thula Laurice Burton. He married Mabel Papach Cooper on May 6th, 1977 in Waukegan, Illinois. Charles served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was also a member of the National Guard, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and American Legion. Charles held a Bachelor's degree in sociology. He loved to fish and was an extraordinary photographer. Charles passed away on December 11, 2004 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 15 days. Survivors: His wife Mabel Papach Cooper Burton, 2 daughters: Barbara Redmond of Louisburg, Tennessee and Robin Blevins of Jefferson City, Missouri; one stepson: Brian Slater of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; 3 stepdaughters: Julie Biddle and Cindy Kemy of Orange County, California and Renea Marston of Jefferson City, Missouri; 3 sisters: Dorothy Tyne of Harvard, Illinois, Lurley Nixon of Walworth, Wisconsin and Edith Hines of Saint Peters, Missouri; 1 brother: Norman Burton of Arizona: 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: His parents, and 2 brothers: Jack and David Burton Visitation: From 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday. Funeral: Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2004. Chaplain Bob Sladek will officiate. The North Central Arkansas Veteran's Council with Alley-White American Legion Post #52 as Color Guard will provide military honors. Burial: Interment will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jefferson City, Missouri.
