Charles Howard of Mountain Home was freed from his earthly shackles to be with the Lord on the evening of Thursday, November 23rd. He spent three decades working for the Baxter Bulletin, serving as the Director of Advertising. After that he worked nearly a decade for KTLO selling advertising. Charles loved spending time tending to his farm south of Mountain Home, raising fox trotter horses and shorthorn cattle. He had an avid interest in history, especially of the Civil War era along with family genealogy.
Charles loved the Church. He was a faithful member of the Wade and Cross Street Church of Christ serving there as a Gospel teacher since moving to Mountain Home in 1978. He helped many people and he was beloved in the community. He lived a humble life of dignity as an example of the believers.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of six decades, Shirley, his sons, Charles Martin “Marty” Howard of Mountain Home, Daniel Howard and wife Amanda of Mountain Home, Michael Howard and wife Cara of Olathe, KS and his daughter, Melissa Cady and husband Tom of Harrison, AR along with seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
There will be a visitation at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Mountain Home on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Ball Church north of Dora, Missouri at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 2, 2023. Burial will follow in the Ball Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzherimer’s research.
