Cheryl A. Hord

March 17, 1947 — May 4, 2015

A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life for Cheryl A. Hord of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 11:00 am, Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Elk's Lodge #1714 BPOE, with Reverend Jerrel Venable officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 Honor Guard.

Cheryl passed away May 4, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 68. She was born March 17, 1947, in West Bend, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Lydia Lischka Theusch. She married Edward Hord on January 30, 1971, at Treasure Island, California.

Cheryl was a Personnel Manager in U.S. Navy. Over the years she earned many accolades including the following; the Overseas Service Ribbon with 5 awards, the Good Conduct Medal with 6 awards, the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal with 2 awards, Navy Commendation with 2 awards and was Guam Ambassador at Large. She was stationed at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bainbridge, Maryland, Treasure Island, California, Jokosuka, Japan, Washington DC, Guam, USA, Bethesda, Maryland, Newport, Rhode Island and London in the United Kingdom. She retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer.

Cheryl lived in Mountain Home since 1991, moving from Guam. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and Elk's Lodge #1714 BPOE Elkettes. Cheryl has climbed Mount Fugi, kissed the Blarney Stone, toured Ireland, Belgium, German, France, Siapan, Hawaii and Scotland. She enjoyed her navel career, especially the comradery and the travel.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Edward Hord of Mountain Home, AR; sister, Mary (John) Harpold of Bellvue, CO; three brothers, Gwynn (Marilyn) Theusch of West Bend, WI, Randal (Debbie) Theusch of Saukville, WI and Ray (Elaine) Maurer of Campbellsport, WI; cousin, Larry Sabish; two nephews, Sean and Josh Theusch; two nieces, Tami (Edward) Ehlert and Rhea Theusch; many close friends and military comrades in arms.

She was preceded in death by her parents and, brother, Jimmie Maurer.

Memorials may be made to Peitz Cancer House, Convoy of Hope or World Vision.
