Chester "JL" Carpenter of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away January 15, 2024, in Gainesville, Missouri at the age of 82. He was born October 26, 1941, in Bismarck, Arkansas, the son of Elmer and Beulah Worrel Carpenter. He married Sheryl Burton on January 5, 1968, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and worked in sales for WalMart of Mountain Home, and retired after 28 years. JL lived in Mountain Home since moving from Oklahoma and California in 1975. He was a member of the Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene. JL was a Christian beginning when he was just a small boy and attended seminary in Oklahoma for two years. His goal in life was to be of service to the people. In later years, he and his wife of 51 years served in the Children's Ministry for Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene of Mountain Home. JL was trained in radio and T.V. repair, and enjoyed woodworking and reading. He will be missed by family, friends and those who knew him.
JL is survived by his daughter, Christina Renee Carpenter of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Harold (Barbara) Carpenter, and Stephen (Petronella) Carpenter; sisters, Veda Smith, and Bettie (Richard) Barcus; sisters-in-law, Ginger Campbell, and Connie Hollon, both of ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Alexander Mikel Carpenter; brother, CM Carpenter; and sisters, Estelene Jones, Charlene Tyson, and Doreen Gill.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 9:00 am until service time, at Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene. A Funeral Service for JL will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene, with Reverend Johnny Ray Lake officiating. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
