A Funeral Service for Clara "Charlene" Messick of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:30 am, Friday, April 7, 2017, at Mountain Home Church of Christ, with Brother Ken Burton officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:30 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
Charlene passed away April 3, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 96. She was born July 28, 1920, in Gassville, Arkansas, the daughter of Russell and Leone Denton Tucker. She married Joy Messick on February 5, 1939, at Mountain Home, Arkansas. Together with their daughter, Linda, they lived in numerous states to pursue construction work as Joy helped to build numerous dams across the country. Charlene was a longtime resident of Mountain Home and a member of the Mountain Home Church of Christ. She was active in church activities and scheduled the church bus to pick up church members on Wednesday and Sunday for church services. She enjoyed taking care of the home and was a great cook. People especially loved her fudge.
Charlene is survived by her daughter, Linda Williamson of Mountain Home, AR; grandson, Darcy (Kathy) Williamson of Falls Church, VA; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Lily and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Joy Lee; three brothers, Harold, Troy and Dale Tucker and two sisters, Florene Crowley and Maxine McCabe.
Burial will be in the Baxter Memorial Gardens, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Bashan Bradbury, Tony Bunch, Cameron Davis, Gary Tucker, Larry Tucker and Russell Tucker as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ellis Jones, Jim McAnulty, Joe Messick, Luke Poynter and Steven Tucker.
Memorials may be made to Mountain Home Church of Christ Tuesday Morning Ladies Bible Class.
