A Funeral Mass for Colleen Patricia Hancock of Cotter, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Friday, June 22, 2018, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Norbert Rappold, as Celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday, June 21, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home, with a Vigil at 7:00 pm.
Colleen passed away June 16, 2018, in Cotter, Arkansas at the age of 85. She was born March 17, 1933, in Sandwich, Illinois, the daughter of Victor and Loretta Heminover Meyer. She attended boarding school at St. Mary's Academy in Nauvoo, Illinois, then Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois. She married Thomas Hancock on October 16, 1954, in Somonauk, Illinois and was a customer service representative for JCPenny Catalog Store. Colleen lived in Cotter since moving from Crystal Lake, Illinois, in 1999. She was an Oblate of the Order of Saint Benedict, a member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, the Saturday Club of Cotter, and the Cotter Cuties Red Hats. She enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominoes, reading, and puzzles.
Colleen is survived by her six sons, Thomas Hancock of Sheridan, IL, Michael (Cheryl) Hancock of Palm Harbor, FL, Phillip Hancock of Crystal Lake, IL, Edward (Zsuzsa Szabo) Hancock of Crystal Lake, IL, David (Lynn) Hancock of Bergman, AR, and Dennis (Debby) Hancock of Algonquin, IL; three daughters, Lynn (Ralph) Goins of Newark, IL, Laura (Gary) Donnelly of Clarks Mills, PA, and Theresa Mosley of Cotter, AR; brother, Don (Peg) Meyer of Mountain Home, AR; sister-in-law, Kate Meyer of Somonauk, IL; brothers-in-law, Jim King and Luigi Schiassi of Villa Park, IL; twenty grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Victor "Ed" Meyer; and son-in-law, Elwood "Mo" Mosley, sister-in-laws, Rhea King, Geri Schiassi, and Vivian Hancock; and brother-in-law, Richard Hancock.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with her sons as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
