Dan L. Staggs, 67, formerly of Monette passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home.
Mr. Staggs served in the Vietnam War from May 1969 to April 1971, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. He worked for Barton’s of Monette for twenty years and then went to work for Monette Co-op where he retired after twenty-one years.
Dan was an active member of the National Street Rod Association, Natural State Rod and Custom Car Club, Northeast Arkansas Street Rod Association and Monette Masonic Lodge. He and his wife were the founders of the Buffalo Island classic Cruisers, where they enjoyed many hours of cruising and meeting friends. His love for old cars took them throughout the United States.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Bethal Kay Staggs; a daughter, Stacie Thompson (Kenny) of Hartselle, AL; a son, Jamie Staggs (Jenni) of Monette; grandchildren, Blake Thompson, Madison Thompson, Madison Chaney and Malorie Chaney; a sister, Dee Adams of Fresno, CA; a brother, Bob Staggs (Lorraine) of Paragould; several nieces and nephews and a special niece, Renee McDougal of Mississippi; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo Staggs and Wanda Ward; a sister; his granddaughter, Lindsey Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.
A celebration of his life will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel with Eddie Dunigan officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery with Masonic rites.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chad Jackson, Jon Milligan, Levi Morris, Aaron Liles, Steven Albrecht, Mark Douglas and Ronnie Morris.
