Visitation for David L. Dodson of Mountain View, Arkansas will be held Thursday June 21 at Roller-Crouche Funeral Home 405 Peabody in Mountain View, AR between 5-7PM David passed away June 16, 2012, at Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 61. He was born October 1, 1950, at Batesville, AR, and was a lifetime resident of Mountain View, Arkansas. David stood an imposing 5'7"1/2 (the half was very important) was an avid hunter and fisherman. If there wasn't a season open then it was "open season" on all the things living in the pond behind his house. If drinking coffee and swapping stories, some of which were mostly true, could be considered a hobby then you could find him doing just that at the Krispy House twice a day, everyday. He had many jobs over the years. He was a rock layer, worked for the Cartwright Saw Mill, as a surveyor for the highway department, but was mostly remembered for working for the City of Mountain View water department where he retired as superintendent. David is survived by son; Lynn and his wife Sandra Dodson, of Mountain View, AR, son, Jerred Dodson, of Jonesboro, AR; brother, James Dodson, of Mountain View, AR; sister, Anita Nichols, of Mountain View, AR; and two grandchildren, Donovan and Ashley Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents Joycie and Oliver "Alton" Dodson Sr. and two brothers, Johnny Richard "J.R." Dodson and Oliver "Jerry" Dodson and an infant sister. David was our baseball coach, our hunting and fishing buddy, a good friend, and a great dad. He was always there when you needed him and would lend a hand when he could. We all have heros. Some are sports players and some only live in comic books, but for a lucky few of us it is our farther. We both were among the lucky ones. Proud to call him dad. David will be missed and those that knew him will all feel sorrow in his passing, but we were all better off having known him.
