David Earl Reichert

United States Navy Retired Master Chief David E. Reichert, 68, of Port Austin, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2017, at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born February 15, 1948, in Detroit Michigan, the son of Leonard and Shirley (Nelson) Reichert. David was baptized at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Detroit. On October 29, 1998, he married the love of this life, Lillian Morris in Marion, Indiana. David was in the United States Navy, enlisting when he was 16 years old; he served as a Navy Seal for four years where he was involved with the first Vietnam Prisoner of War swap. He then became a Master Chief Radioman, retiring in 1986.

David loved to cook, barbecue, tinker with electronics, hunt, and fish with his best fishing buddy, Brent Morris. He loved spending time with his family and friends. David was a very kind, patient, loving, understanding man and he will be greatly missed by all, especially by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lillian Reichert of Port Austin, MI; his son, Leonard Reichert and his wife Donna, of Brickwood, IN; his daughter, Chrystal Weaver and her husband Frankie of Drasco, AR; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special aunt, Delores Constance of Dearborn, MI; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Sherry Farhat.

A family graveside service with full military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post #3031 and United States Navy Honor Guards will be held 1:00 pm, Friday April 14, 2017 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion or VFW in Port Austin, Michigan.
