David Schuetz

Memorial services for David Edward Schuetz of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Nancy Taylor officiating. David passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at Care Manor Nursing Center, at the age of 100. He was born March 21, 1910 in Rapid City, SD, the son of Orange Noble and Mary Topp Schuetz. He married Frances Marie Van Steenwyk June 16, 2910 in Sioux Center, Iowa. Formerly from Dennison, Iowa they have lived in Mountain Home since 1969. He owned the Credit Bureau here as he had owned similar Credit Bureau's in Iowa. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and served on LST 797 that was involved in most of the major island landings in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 67 years and son, David, his brother Eardly and sister, Alice. David is survived by 2 sons, Julian (Avice) Schuetz of Mountain Home, AR, Marlin N. (Joan) Schuetz of Boquete, Panama, 3 grandsons, Major Schuetz of McKinney, TX, David Schuetz (Teresa) of Emory TX and Sterling Schuetz of Shallotte, NC, 2 granddaughters, Arreaun (Dan) Moody of Caulfield, Mo and Andrea Cook of Charles Town, W.V., 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. David was known in Mountain Home for his love of music playing clarinet, oboe and bassoon, VFW Concert Band, Symphony, Presbyterian Instrumental Choir and Mozark Symphony Orchestra. He was also a former Assistant Band Director of the Navy Band that performed in Washington D.C. for the President while in Basic Training. He was a founder and first president of the White River Fly Fishers Club and also founded the Amateur Radio Club, The Homing Pigeon Club, as well as several other clubs. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
