Graveside services for David LaVern Merrill of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 16, 2010 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
David died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, at the age of 68. He was born May 31, 1942 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, the son of Francis Leroy and Lela Emma Schoepke Merrill. He married Doris Gray on February 10, 1961 at Mountain Home, Arkansas and he worked as a Postal Desk Clerk for United States Postal Service. David Merrill was U.S. Navy veteran serving as an Electronic Tech. David lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1959 moving from Iowa. He had a passion for motorcycles, airplanes, antiques and working in his machine shop.
David is survived by his brother, Richard (Dorothy) Merrill of Mountain Home, AR; several nieces and nephews including, Christy Carlisle of Mountain Home, AR and Carol Merrill of Conway, AR; great-niece, Alex Carlisle; mother-in-law, Threasa Gray; sister-in-laws, Mary Jo (Bob) Layton, Betty (Frank) Maupin, Delayne (Buddy) Gilliam, Patty (Larry) Sanders, Kathy (Ronnie) Christian and Debbie (Bob) Callatine and brother-in-laws, Doyle (Linda), Jerry (Deloris) and Donald (Gayla) Gray.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris, twin brother, Dean and sister, Mary.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Doyle, Jerry and Donald Gray, Frank Maupin, Larry Dean sanders and Bob Callantine as pallbearers. Richard Merrill, Bob Layton, Buddy Gilliam, Bob Davis and Ronnie Christian will be honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
