Debra McClung of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away March 21, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 66. She was born September 18, 1957, in Big Flat, Arkansas, the daughter of Herbert and Tilda House McClung. She lived in Mountain Home for the last 50 years since moving from Big Flat. Debra's career journey was nothing short of remarkable - starting as a waitress and eventually finding her calling in the field of emergency medical services. She began her dedicated service with Baxter Health as an EMT, later progressing to become a paramedic. Even when the physical demands of the job became too much, she found a way to continue making a difference by serving in dispatch, showcasing her unwavering commitment to helping others. Throughout her tenure working on an ambulance, Debra experienced moments of immense pride, having successfully delivered two precious babies into the world. Her contributions to the field of emergency medical services spanned over 30 years at Baxter Health, where she touched countless lives with her dedication and expertise. Outside of her career, Debra enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, calf roping, gardening, doing puzzles, and family board games. She was best known for her love of family and nature.
Debra is survived by her sons, Michael DeWain Horton Jr. and wife, Rochelle Horton, and BJ Long and wife, Stacy Long; grandchildren, Michael DeWaine Horton, III, William Brent Horton and wife, Hannah Horton, Jacob Allen Horton, Jeremiah Nathaniel Horton, Avery Rose Horton, Kalila Hope Horton, Braden James Long, Caydem David Long, and Alyssa Long; great-grandchildren, Lillian Horton, Opal Horton, Declyn Long, and Myles Montgomery; sisters, Naomi Chapman, Barbara Sue Dotson, and Rena Treat; brother, Charles McClung; and her two beloved dogs, Sampson, and Rosie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, LD McClung and WA McClung.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 26, 2024, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A Graveside Service for Debra will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Rock Creek Cemetery, Harriet, AR, with Pastor Jeff Morgan officiating.
