Debra Kay Stephens

March 12, 1951 — August 21, 2021

Debra Kay (Gwilliam) Stephens passed away August 21, 2021, in Mountain Home, Arkansas after losing her battle with COVID. She was born March 12, 1951, in Murray, Utah, the daughter of Thomas Dale Gwilliam and Edna Jeanine (Dundas) Gwilliam. She married Thomas Stephens on March 10, 1971, in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Thomas and Debra were able to celebrate 50 years together and had many adventures throughout those years. In her life she lived in 7 states, and through her travels she was able to visit all 50 states and 12 foreign countries. Debra loved to travel and see new places and worked as a travel agent for many years. Tom and Debra eventually settled in Mountain Home where Debra enjoyed the flowers, trees, critters and reading on her sun porch.

Debra loved her family and would light up when she was able to talk to or visit any of her children, grandchildren and siblings. Debra’s legacy remains in the handmade paper crafts that she lovingly spent hours in her craft room making for family and friends. She incorporated her love for turtles, owls, unique “critters” and all things miniature into these designs. Her craft room was one of her happy places where she created cards, flowers, ornaments and even small Christmas villages.

Her love for family stretched beyond her actual family as anyone that knew her would agree that she accepted all people for who they were and provided a place of comfort and security for anyone that needed it.

Debra is survived by her husband, Tom Stephens, her children, Tom (Denise) Stephens Jr., Tim (Stephanie) Stephens, Anthony (Rebecca) Stephens, Tamra (Lee) Gillenwater, Theresa (Eric) Hill, Troy (Claudia) Stephens, her 15 grandsons, 13 granddaughters, and 1 great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Kristine and Paula.

Her family and loved ones will be having a Celebration of Life event on Friday, Sept. 17th in Lindon, Utah.
