Dessie M. Pitts was born January 23, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of David B. and Eva Brown Duncan. She married Carl R. Pitts on June 14, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated from East High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1942. Mrs. Pitts moved from Wichita to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1952. In the same year she and Carl purchased Fisherman's Lodge (now known as the Lakehouse Restaurant) in Gamaliel, Arkansas and operated it for 18 years. Dessie and Carl also started the Dog-N-Suds Drive-In in 1968. She was a VP for Account Services with First National Bank & Trust in Mountain Home for 17 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was also a very avid sports fan because of her family participation in sports. Dessie M. Pitts passed away on January 19, 2005 at Outlook Pointe in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 26 days. Survivors: Three sons Gaylen (Julia) Pitts and Gary (Linda) Pitts, both of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Greg (Amy) Pitts of Lawrenceville, Georgia; five grandchildren, Nick (Anna) Pitts of Fayetteville Arkansas, Travis and Ryan Pitts of Mountain Home, Tayler and Eric Pitts of Lawrenceville, Georgia and a great-granddaughter, Annaston Pitts of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Preceded in Death by: Her parents; husband Carl and her brother N.M. Duncan. Visitation: Friday, January 21, 2005 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home. Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Russell R. Moore officiating. Burial: Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery in Mountain Home, Arkansas Memorials: Newly Founded Bomber Booster Foundation at P.O. Box 723, Mountain Home, AR.
