Memorial services for Don C. Dietz of Lakeview, Arkansas, will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Richard Linstad officiating. Don Dietz died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 84. He was born Sunday, March 8, 1925 in Walcott, Iowa, the son of John and Nonie Nielson Dietz. Don Dietz was a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII. He was an entrepreneur and businessman. He was Vice President for Pepsi, owned a 7UP distributorship and started a chocolate soft drink Co. One of his companies was one of the first to use plastic bottles. He played, baseball, football and basketball in college. He played baseball as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. He was past president of the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin Lions Club. Don Dietz is survived by 3 daughters, Ann E. Brandt of Hinsdale, IL, Carolyn (Bill) Gates of Marble Falls, TX and Debbie (Chuck) Schuyler of Charleston, SC, 2 sons, Jim (Vicki) Dietz of Lake Zurich, IL and John Dietz of Adelaide, Australia, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Military honors will be provided by North Central Arkansas Veterans Council thru Alley-White American Legion Post #52.
