Don Phillips Young of Mountain Home, Arkansas went to heaven November 19, 2021 in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 93. He was born October 4, 1928 in Coal Hill, Arkansas to John and Bogie Young.
He married Mary in Detroit, Michigan on August 20, 1949. They were married for 70 years. Don worked in the shoe business for over 40 years, starting with Thom McAn when he was 18 ending his career with Payless Shoes. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post 0052 in Mountain Home.He had a passion for growing tomato plants and loved to spend time out doors whether it was in his yard, family BBQ's or on the pontoon boat. He loved his family very much.
Don is survived by his brother Pat (Bev) Young of Brownstown, Michigan; daughter Kelly (Frank) Shrake of Mountain Home, Arkansas; son-in-law Al Massie of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grandchildren Greg (Shannon) Massie of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Jenifer Massie of Texas City, Texas, Nathan (Kali) Johnson of New Orleans, LA; great grandchildren Dylan, Logan, Jordon, Carter Massie of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Presley and Porter Johnson of New Orleans, Louisiana; Best friends Charlie and Janet Cryts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary; daughter Michelle Massie; son Jon Young; four sisters and one brother.
A Memorial Service for Don will be Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm, at Kirby and Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Ford officiating.
Memorials can be made to Alley-White American Legion Post #52, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
