A Memorial Service for Donald Kermit Aschim of Lakeview, AR will be 2PM Monday June 21, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals with Reverend Nicholas Lascaro officiating. Don died June 17, 2010 at Hospice House of the Ozarks surrounded by his family and friends. He was 86.
Don was born October 11, 1923 at Des Moines, IA to Stone and Selma Mickelson Aschim. He married Iris Furne October 30, 1948 at Des Moines, IA. Don was a dealer contact representative for the Lincoln-Mercury Division of Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1977 and moving with Iris from Minneapolis, MN to Lakeview. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Don enjoyed fishing and was a long time member of the Rivercliff Golf Club. He was a faithful friend of Bill W. for a few months short of 40 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Iris Aschim of the home; daughters Paula Aschim (Tim Garvey) of Bloomington, IL. And Diane Manderfeld (Terry) of Ham Lake, MN; grandchildren, Josh Manderfeld (Christina) and Megan Mattson (Josh); granddaughter, Alyssa Manderfeld; sister , DeLores Aschim of Des Moines, IA and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brother, Ted, Bob, Ken, and Dean.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House of the Ozarks.
