A Funeral Service for Donald "D" Louis Herbert of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Arkana School House, Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2013 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel and a Gathering Of Friends will be Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the home of Andrew & Coleen Gibbs, 215 Remington Circle, Mountain Home.
D. Herbert, 64 of Mountain Home Arkansas passed away Wednesday, 25 December 2013, at his daughter’s home in Austin, Arkansas. He was born 19 November 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Donald Louis and Beatrice Lupton Herbert.
D. graduated from the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets in 1971. He married the love of his life, Sherril Davis, on 19 October 1974. He was a founder of the Arkansas Maine-Anjou Association and served on the Board of Directors of the American Maine-Anjou Association. He taught at the Baxter County Alternative School in Mountain Home and provided short-term foster care to many troubled teens. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church of Cotter, a business owner and a life-long farmer.
D. is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his loving wife Sherril, loving children; Donald Louis Herbert III of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Virginia Herbert Lantz of Austin, Arkansas, Elizabeth Rachael Allen of Erie, Colorado, Daniel Lupton Herbert of Mountain Home, Arkansas, eight loving grandchildren, Abigail Lantz, Ethan Lantz, Eden Allen, Kaitlyn Allen, Nicholas Allen, Hazel Allen, Karhys Herbert, Elise Herbert and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in the Arkana Cemetery, Arkana, Arkansas with Louis Herbert, Daniel Herbert, Brad Lantz, Jody Allen, Wade Geery and Fred Lowe as pallbearers.
The family requests that donations locally be made to Bread of Life Kitchen through Word of Life Church or to Life Outreach International or Heifer International be made in lieu of flowers.
