A Funeral Service for Donald Gene Dobson of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Tim Jones officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 3, 2015, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
Donald passed away May 31, 2015, at home, with his family and friends by his side, at the age of 55, after a 13 year long battle with lung cancer. He was born December 20, 1959, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Floyd and Wanda Sisney Dobson. He married Chris Burns on May 8, 1982, in Colt, Arkansas. Donald was a farmer all of his life until he became disabled. He loved working outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and loved his children and grandchildren beyond words.
Donald is survived by his wife, Chris A. Dobson of Mountain Home, AR; two sons, Don (Heather) Dobson and granddaughter, Alexandria of Springfield, MO and Shane Dobson of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Amber (Bo) Litty and granddaughter, Molly Butler of Mountain Home, AR, and Molly's dad, Matt Butler. Donald is also survived by his mother Wanda Dobson of Heber Springs, AR; two brothers, Eddie (Barbara) Dobson of Brinkley, AR and Preston (Lucy) Fitts of Heber Springs, AR; three sisters, Elizabeth Dobson of Clarendon, AR, Veletta Dobson of Heber Springs, AR and Holly (Darren) McGarther of Heber Springs, AR.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Sam Barnes, David and Dawn Pratt, Matt Butler, Kathy Balentine, Dr. Richard Burnett, Dr. Lincoln and all others for your love and support.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Dobson; sister, Donna Jo Dobson; brother, Floyd Dobson, Jr.; and granddaughter, Katie Butler.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Don Dobson, Shane Dobson, Matt Butler, Barrett Burns, John Burns, and David Pratt as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Stunkel, Eddie Dobson, Sam Barnes, and Preston Fitts.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital in remembrance of his late granddaughter Katie R. Butler.
