A Funeral Service for Donald Ray Dykes of Bull Shoals, Arkansas will be 11AM Thursday May 20, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home in Bull Shoals with Reverend Terry Hart officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday May 19, 2010 from 4-7PM. Don passed away Monday May 17, 2010 at his home after a short battle with heart disease. He was 72. Don was born at Kingsland, AR to Ray and Audrey Crook Dykes. He married his beloved Marita Topping May 28, 1996 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, AR . Don was a proud retired Veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Vietnam and Korea. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Hoevel-Barnett Post#1341. He moved to Bull Shoals in 1995 from Las Vegas, Nevada. Don loved his life and was dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed working on motors and engines and giving his grandchildren a hard time in a fun way. Don spent recent years delivering flowers and helping to build Gabriele?s Flower Shop. He is survived by his wife Marita; step-daughter, Gabriele Branaman(Ron) of Lakeview, AR; sister, Ruth Rhoades(Gene) of Rison, AR. ; grandchildren, Ryan(Lea), Dustin, and Tatum Branaman, several nieces and nephews and special friend Jimmy Draughn. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial will be in Newton Flat Cemetery with Ron Branaman, Ryan Branaman, Dustin Branaman, Jimmy Draughn, Eric Coleman, and Harold Saeler as pallbearers. Memorials can be made to the Bull Shoals Food Pantry. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services.
