A Gathering of Friends for Donald Lee Kellams of Lakeview, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel - Bull Shoals. Donald passed away December 30, 2012, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 83. He was born July 13, 1929, to Rupert and Maggie Kellams in Sterling, Kansas. He graduated from Hutchinson, Kansas High School and Hutchinson Community College. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in June of 1947serving 23 years and served 3 years and 3 months on active duty during the Korean conflict. He married Patricia Engler on December 20, 1953, at Hutchinson, Kansas and worked as a beverage salesman. Donald moved to Cotter, Arkansas in August of 1967 and to Lakeview, Arkansas in May of 1968. He was on the original Lakeview City Council for two terms and later served another two terms on the council. He was one of the originators of the Grover Township Fire Protection District that was formed in October of 1973 and has been associated in an administrative capacity with them for the last 39 years. He enjoyed fishing on the White River. Donald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Kellams of Lakeview, AR; three sons, Kurt (Julie), Kevin (Nanci) and Kyle (Laura); five grandchildren; two step grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Grover Township Fire Protection District. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
