A Memorial Service with Military Honors for Donald Jay Snell, 78, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas will be 11AM Saturday February 9, 2013, at Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeview, Arkansas with Brother Patrick Norris officiating. Donald died January 23, 2013. Donald was born June 24, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MI to Christopher and Ada DeBoar Snell. He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Howe Winner, June 9, 2009, in Las Vegas, NV. Don served his country in the United States Navy in the Korean War. He worked in plane maintenance for the future Blue Angels and continued working as a machinist for Almac Machine. Donald was an avid outdoorsman and moved to Arkansas to hunt and fish. He was a good cook, loved cars and was always ready with a joke. Don is survived by wife, Shirley Snell of Bull Shoals, AR; son, Robert Jay Snell (Melanie) of Cameron Park, CA; daughter, Shari Nafus (Robert) of Santa Clara, CA; brother, Chris Snell (Mary Ann) of Grand Rapids, MI; two sister-in-laws; five step-children and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of fifty three years, Carolyn; his son, Timothy Ray Snell and brother, Edward Snell. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
