A Memorial Service for Dorothy "Dot" Moore of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2 o?clock, Wednesday, March 14th , at Good Samaritan Society Chapel, with Reverend Randy Ludwig officiating.
Dot passed away February 5, 2012, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 88. She was born October 2, 1923, in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Karl and Mabel Larsen Ellerman. She married John Moore on November 10, 1946, at Bladenburg, Maryland. Dot served in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Corpsman during World War II. She lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1982, moving from White Plains, New York. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Dot was a board member of the American Foreign Christian Union, whose purpose is to oversee the American Church in Paris, Paris, France and the American Church in Berlin, Berlin, Germany. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, a Welcome Wagon Alumnae, and worked with the Meals for Retirees at the Methodist Church from 1983 to February 1993, the last six years as joint chairman with husband, John. She was also a member of the Baxter Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
Dot is survived by 4 sons; Terry (Sarah Schenkman) Moore, of Savannah, GA, Jim (Julie) Moore, of Victoria, B.C., Canada, Robert Moore, of Chicago, IL, John Moore, of Tucson, AZ; sister, Mary Lou (Stanley) Temple, of Upper Marlboro, MD, and her grandson, Samuel Schenkman-Moore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother, and 1 sister.
Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or United Methodist Women Weekend Meals for Kids or Wesley Kitchen at FUMC.
