Dorothy Ortlip

Dorothy Jean Ortlip, who spent 20 of her retirement years in Mountain Home, died on her 94th birthday, Nov. 1, 2021, in Kirkwood, Missouri, of natural causes.

Mrs. Ortlip worked in factory jobs, retiring in Galion, Ohio, along with her husband Ted, in 1984. They spent a couple of years near Lake James, Indiana, before moving permanently to Mountain Home, where they lived on Baxter Avenue.

She was an active volunteer at the Bargain Box thrift store and as a longtime practitioner of knitting and crocheting, she donated items for premature babies born at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mountain Home.

Mrs. Ortlip was a native of Fort Recovery, Ohio, the youngest of six siblings who preceded her in death. She and her husband Ted Ortlip were married for 59 years. He died in Mountain Home in 2009, also on his birthday.

She also lived in Indiana, Texas and Colorado and left Mountain Home in 2015 to be near family members in the St. Louis area.

Survivors include three sons, Fred Ortlip of Kirkwood, Missouri (wife Rory); Alan Ortlip of Denver (wife Cathy); and Russ Ortlip (wife Diane) of Ballwin, Missouri; four grandchildren, Eric Ortlip of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Keith Ortlip of St. Louis; Valerie Riley of Kirkwood, Missouri; and Allison Pardee of Chicago; and seven great-grandchildren.
